Meet Chunk (and the Cookies Named After Him)
Before there was a website, or ten flavors with names I'm probably too proud of, there was just baking. Baking for the simple joy it gave me to share my concoctions on Fridays. After "first dibs" had been received by my intended audience, the rest found their way to my friends, who became the unofficial taste-testers. One in particular (thanks Ally) enjoyed them enough to emphatically say, out loud, "you should really be selling these!" So here we are.
Our name...that one's not just about the cookies being thick and chunky, though they absolutely are. It's also about my goofy little giant.
Chunk is my shadow. My second rescue dog, and just as loving and adorable as the first. They were amazing sidekicks, but now it's just us - me getting the better job since I get to sample the chocolatey goodness while he snacks on his blueberries, giving me the side eye. Being the mascot wasn't a job he applied for, but he got it anyway, after all, he has great bone structure which makes for amazing photos.
As for the cookies themselves, every flavor has its own name and its own little story behind it, and I'll be sharing those here as we go. Some are punny, some are a little unhinged (looking at you, Dumpster Fire), and all of them started the same way everything here does: something I actually wanted to make, that turned into something I hope you want to eat.
